Welcome to the Cub Pack
Cubs started off the autumn term with the first activity, enjoyed every year, with a hike from the Scout hall
to the local fish and chip shop. As it started to get dark, and the Cub's torches became visible & they
enjoyed traditional chips in the bag "with lashings" of salt and vinegar!
As the older Cubs move to Scouts, new sixers ft seconds are selected to lead each "six". These Cubs were invited to attend a weekend camp at Bentley Copse Activity Centre in Surrey with other local packs. So over the third weekend of September off went the newly selected sixers & seconds for a fun packed weekend of Scouting & activities.
We like to take the opportunity for outdoor activities
and in September we took part in the District Fishing
Competition. This year the event took place at the
New Haw Lock in September
..... we were there to win back the trophy that we so
proudly claimed in 2009.
.... however we were defeated by a rival pack who
won by 1 oz overall. Yes, but thanks to one of our
lucky Cubs for catching the best catch that
weighted in at 7 % oz ... a whopper!
The Cubs enjoyed an evening of Science activities too
where the Look Out in Bracknell opened it centre for
the evening to our pack where we were able to use the
facilities and inter act with the exhibits and experiments.
We have a wide range of activities planned for this term that not only include traditional Scouting activities but give the Cubs the opportunity to achieve more challenge badges.
We would like to Thank Skip (who has been on loan from our Scout Troop) for being our Leader for the
past few months. Cubs have had a great time particularly enjoying summer camp at Walton Firs in July.
Skip needn't have organized such a fun packed programme and taken so much kit as the Cubs made up
their own activity making rubber band balls! Still they did enjoy the assault course, climbing, archery
and camp doughnuts really!
As you know Sandra has been assisting Skip with administration tasks. She then had some programme ideas of her own and realized how enjoyable being a leader can be! Sandra has now decided to be our new Akela and we would like to warmly welcome her to our Leadership Team.
Skip will continue to support the Cub Pack while Sandra 'finds her feet'.
